CMC 31 Downloads

Hi all. So sorry for the dry spell but, as always, real life is hardly as neat as Sims. In any case, here are the recolors I made for the CMC31 Dawn.

Of course, I was going for dawn, so soft morning light is coming in from the window, leaving the rest of the room in shadows. I wanted a relaxed, creative aura, so the decorative tray has an old fashioned quill for writing, an old journal, and a letter from days gone by. I replaced the daisy with a beautiful bearded lily. The cup and saucer are made of a soft, antique patterned porcelain, paper thin of course!

The yellow crackle table holds 2 leather bound journals, again for more creative writing, drawing, or in my case, doodling. They are lovely close up in the game. The chairs and couches are all covered with crushed blue velvet. The armchair spots a green sequined pillow, one of my favs in fact. The fireplace boasts a hammered, rubbed oil finish on bronze. Again, another beauty in the game. The rug is over sized to keep our sim's footsies off those cold morning floors.

The planter is made of the same metal as the fireplace, really pulling the pieces together. The flowers are Anthirums, and the leaves are from a Monstera plant. The curtains are made of a ivory satin with a tufted patterned sheer to hide the hard edges on any window.

The sideboard is made from Spalted Maple, a wood that I just love for its unique burls and colors. The door handles are again from the same metal as the fireplace and the planter. The chair is a spot of color in an otherwise very peachy room. Its metallic green presence and modern jacquard print are a true piece of artwork. The sofa is matched to the armchair, with soft yellows, creams, blues, and browns to pull it into the room. The padded table/ footrest is upholstered in a chocolate brown chenille with yet more pillows to lounge on. Its sheer paisley skirt hides any dust bunnies brave enough to venture into a sim home.
I really enjoyed this CMC, and am already hard at work on the next. Stay tuned for more fun and in the meantime, enjoy these recolors!!!

My First Color Me Crazy on BPS

Hi all. What ya been up to?? Me....why glad you asked!! For the last week I have been pouring over the internet, looking for fabrics, textures, designs, and inspiration for Black Pearl Sims latest Color Me Crazy contest,  number 31, Dawn, lovingly submitted by tinhouse. A wonderful theme featuring the soft colors of a new day, Dawn certainly stretched my newly budding recoloring skills. What was more, its not just about the recolors. Layout, pictures, and those precious 5 extra decor items, all help make or break your submission. Below is the color palette that we had to work with.

I cannot, as of yet, make my recolors, or any additional pictures of them, available. Have to wait till the contest is over, but until then you can catch mine and all my fellow recolorers submissions at Color Me Crazy #31 Dawn forum post. Polls open on the 20th and will close on the 27th, so stop on by and vote for your favorite!!

Additional Just 5 Around the World recolors

Of course, while in the throes of creativity, I poured forth multiple ideas of the priceless Schrank. These first attempts, while emotionally significant, were not, alas, what I was ultimately aiming for. So, they fell to the wayside.

That does not mean, however, that they are not still beautiful in their own right. While they may not have been what I was looking for, they could be just what you had in mind. So, my plans for them.... I am giving them a home here, where they may be loved and adored by anyone wishing to adopt them and find them the perfect spot in their Sim home. I hope you enjoy using my alternative Schrank recolors as much as I enjoyed making them.

Just 5 Around the World

Inspired by the great Black Pearl Sims, I entered my very first recoloring contest to get my feet wet, so to speak. The quest, to take a simple object and recolor it to portray the individuality's of 5 different countries. The item in question...steffor-epiglotta-schrank, which can be found at Simcave. I have no idea what a schrank is, but evidently this is what it looks like...

I used textures, fabrics, and designs that were native to the areas I was recoloring for. It added realism and frankly, made it a lot easier to choose! So, without further ado, here are my 5 favorite recolors, and yes, that means there were more

This first recolor was inspired by the Moulin Rouge. Over indulgence and opulence were it's trademarks, and yet nothing can last forever, not even endless nights of cavorting, music, and dance.

Most stylize descriptions of Africa after the people and their wild, vibrant colors that grab for your attention. And yet there is a softer, natural side that is equally impelling and no less impressive for its subtlety and beauty.

Asian design has always been one of the most beautiful, for it never fails to incorporate the delicate elegance of nature in it. This recolor reflects the simple yet refined style of Chinese decor.

This recolor reflects the wealth of Egypt in the use of metallic finishes, and yet also reflects the nations reliance on natural materials such as obsidian, limestone, and papyrus.

India is a culture full of striking colors and rich, lavish designs. Reflective materials are very popular, but even more so are the elaborate and detailed carvings used in furniture and decor.
